This summer I volunteered as a teacher’s aide at a local elementary school. It was my job to help young children without any previous schooling adjust to life at public school. My most difficult student was a young boy who had emigrated from Afghanistan a few months ago. He had never really been allowed outside in Afghanistan due to the issues over there, so he was very nervous to come to school. I comforted him and helped him adjust to the American schooling system.
